We are a small riding school and agistment centre located in Birdwood in the Adelaide Hills.
Natasha Cockburn is an EFA NCAS Level 1 general coach, fully insured to teach anyone from beginners to competition level.
Natasha’s background was eventing but is now concentrating on dressage and is competing at FEI level dressage.
We have six school horses available to use for lessons. Or you can bring your own.
We have a fully fenced and surfaced all weather arena with lights.
Lessons are private one on one to make the most of your riding experience.
Or depending on riders ability and horses available we can do shared lessons.
Here at Oakwood we believe in giving students the opportunity to groom, saddle up and unsaddle and care for the horse before and after riding. We like to encourage students to learn the horse management side of horses as well as riding.

Oakwood Equestrian Academy’s head coach Natasha Cockburn, is experienced in coaching riders of all levels, she herself, has trained with a number of Australia’s leading coaches and she is a well-known FEI competitor. Natasha offers a supportive, encouraging environment in which to learn and explore the experience of horse riding that only equine enthusiasts will understand.
Beginner and nervous riders are specially catered for at Oakwood with experienced ponies and horses available for students requiring a school horse. Our ponies are reliable, safe and have plenty of practice looking after inexperienced riders. Riders with their own horse are also welcome. Taking individual lessons is most ideal for those with a view to competing or starting pony club. Coaching is available for knowledgeable riders already competing. Natasha has been trained using the German Training Scale and uses these methods in her coaching. Paired and group lessons are available on school horses or for visiting horse and rider combinations.
Oakwood Equestrian Academy has regular school holiday programs, horse management training and parent programs. Occasionally, opportunities arise for working pupils and school-based apprenticeships.

Horse agistment is available at Oakwood Equestrian Academy with a variety of paddock and care options to suit your needs. Quality facilities include dressage arena, round yard, fenced show jumping area, low level cross country jumps, hot wash bay and undercover saddle up area.
